Is this thing on?

Here I am, awkwardly stepping back onto the blogging platform. Clearing my throat. Tapping the microphone.

I'm not dead. Or in a coma. Or kidnapped by vengeful pirate wenches. Nope, I've just been spectacularly busy (as only summer can be) with traveling, preschoolers, and editing. Also, I've been in an emotional fetal position over the oil spill fiasco in the Gulf. Dealing with all of this has taken more time than I'd imagined.

Don't get me wrong; I love you, Dear Reader. I really do. But when things get busy, I tend to chuck the blog overboard first. Book editing is the priority. There it is, stark as day.

As an apology, I present something truly delightful -- so delightful, in fact, that I'm insanely jealous I didn't think of it first. "Catalog Living" is a Tumblr account where a creative individual has taken the perfectly-staged pictures from catalogs and crafted a drama around them -- the story of Gary and Elaine's marriage. It's witty and hilarious. Por ejemplo:

Elaine was not amused by Gary’s passive-aggressive
response to her request to “garnish the cocktails.”

Apology accepted, Dear Reader? Bless you and your generous spirit. I'll be back to a regular posting schedule now -- at least once a week. Next up: editing update. Also, a brooding Regency lord (the best kind!). Stay tuned.

See, this is why I need you to blog. How else will I keep up with important things on the internet? This would totally have shot under my radar otherwise.
