I don't have the mental capacity to deal with this right now. It's time for a breather from editing. I'm tired of reading my own words.
Breather One: The Kitchen
Spurred by PL1's birthday fete this weekend, I finally sewed and stapled my new fabric onto the old message board. I am mightily pleased with the aesthetic results -- and the handiness of having my paper-repository back.
We're waiting on buying chairs for a while, probably until the old ones collapse from beneath PL1 as he noshes a PB&J. Don't worry, I'll take pictures and post about it, when it happens.
Breather Two: Reading
For the next week or so, I'm giving myself permission to read. Sounds weird, right? Well let me tell you, Dear Reader, balancing two preschoolers, writing, keeping house, and keeping myself (i.e. exercise and bathing), leaves little time for anything else. (Well, occasionally MI-5 and Masterpiece Classics, but I digress.)
Witness my current pile of books-to-be-read.
Did you notice PL1 and PL2's unfinished photo albums on the bottom shelf?
Yeah, add those to the list of things I need to find time for.
I just finished The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine N. Aron, which was fascinating and inspired many writerly thoughts. I'm wrangling these revelations into a blog post sometime in the next week, I promise.
Next up is Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read this yet, since it's one of the more notorious examples of fantasy in my particular subgenre. Jonathan Strange comes highly recommended by a friend who has faaaabulous taste in entertainment. It's so nice to have friends who share fandom quirks and are willing to lend out their books.

Reading is one of the breaks I take as well. Also blogging, although lately its become a career by itself, which I need to cut back on lol!
I second the Jonathan Strange endorsement. And for the size of that thing, it's really a pretty quick read (well, for the childless reader, anyway).
Karen - It's true! The blog can be such a time-suck. A fun time-suck, but still ...
Stacy - I'm over 200 pages in (I'm a quick reader), and I'm definitely hooked. Woe that this book is not one in a series, like almost every other fantasy novel!
Aw, I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes you just need a break from your words. It's beneficial for your later writing as well, because you can truly observe it with fresh, and more objective, eyes.
And that message board looks awesome!!
